About Wetherill Park 'Buffers'
Our story
Wetherill Park Westerners, 'Buffers', consists of a group of competitive soccer players who started playing together in 1993, in the over 35s soccer competition, in the Southern Districts of Sydney. That group of players competed for approximately 10 consecutive years achieving quite a great deal of success. Every year, at the end of the soccer season, the players, and their 'social entourage', would travel away together for a soccer tour which, overtime morphed into three days of golf, fun and mayhem. In 2010 that travelling group expanded in size with the inclusion of the players' sons, the "juniors", who joined the "seniors" for their annual golf weekend. The "seniors" along with the "juniors" celebrated their 20th anniversary of these golfing trips in 2016. The Wetherill Park 'Buffers' believe in beer, wine, golf and punting, that is, mateship.
